Support the Work of the Women's Law Project in
Western
Pennsylvania
Dear Friends:
I hope you can join me on Sunday afternoon,
August 26th, to celebrate Women's Equality Day and show your support for the Women's Law Project. Jessie
and Brent Beckett-McWalter have graciously opened their Shadyside home to us,
and together with Kathie Ferraro, are hosting our first houseparty in Western
Pennsylvania. Our
goal is to begin the process of raising enough money to bring our new 3/5th-time
staff attorney Tatyana Margolin on full-time. You can help us reach that
goal and expand our highly successful program in Western PA. To
make a contribution just click on this link.
Why should you support the Women's Law Project?
If you are happy that Slippery Rock University may no longer discriminate
against its female athletes;
If you are pleased that Pittsburgh now has one of the most effective ordinances
in the country protecting access to reproductive health care providers while
still respecting the First Amendment rights of peaceful protesters;
If you're relieved that women who breastfeed their babies may no longer be
prosecuted under Pennsylvania's public indecency laws;
If you're grateful that scores of Western Pennsylvania pharmacies now
stock emergency contraception because of phone calls they received from the Women's
Law Project;
Then you're a supporter of our work.
Want to see Pennsylvania high schools treat female athletes on an equal
basis with male athletes?
Want to ensure that more child support paid for poor children on public
assistance actually goes to the children, not to the state?
Want to make it illegal to discriminate against LGBT people in employment,
housing, and public accommodations?
So do we. These are achievable, realistic goals for improving
the lives of women and girls, and each is within our grasp--all we need is your
support. Please help us move this exciting agenda forward by
attending the houseparty on Sunday and by learning how you can get involved in
our work. Whether you have a lot of time or a little, many skills or just
a few, loads of resources or are stretched thin, there is a way for you to help.
The invitation to the houseparty appears below--hope to see you there. --Sue
