PREGNANCY DISCRIMINATION

Pregnant and parenting students have rights! The WLP Legal Navigator program is here to help.

Pregnant and parenting students have rights. Laws prohibit discrimination in education on the basis of pregnancy and require schools to provide reasonable accommodations to allow students to continue their education and school-related activities while pregnant and following birth.

These rights may not apply to every student. These rights are protected under federal and state law. Your individual circumstances determine what laws apply to you.

We can provide you with information, assistance, advice, and representation to help you understand your rights and stay in school while taking care of your health and the health of your pregnancy, including:

  • Preparations to disclose pregnancy at school.
  • Requests for accommodations at school.
  • Navigation of leave and other school policies.
  • Preparations for return to school.
  • Requests for lactation accommodations.
